GLÜCKAUF KUMPEL! ABSCHIED VON DER STEINKOHLE IN DEUTSCHLAND
Germany Closes Its Last Active Coal Mine, Ending of 200-Year-Old Industry
Germany witnessed the end of an era. A team of dusty miners brought up the last lumps of hard coal mined in the country from the Prosper-Haniel Mine in Bottrop, in the heart of Germany’s Industrial Northwest. It’s a bittersweet farewell for an area already down on its luck. The 54 pax WDR orchestra performed together with the 92 pax Ruhrkohle Cohr the famous “STEIGERLIED” and a musical composition was written to a Tribute film by Werner Kubny, in honor of the passionate miners.
German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and EU Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker attended in Bottrop to bid farewell to this era of Germany’s economy.
I had the honor and privilege to work for De Vries + Partners Gmbh who was responsible for the support of camera director Phillip Gassmann for all Live actions.
I worked as show caller and witnessed this once in a lifetime, emotional event.
Team De Vries + Partners GmbH was next to stage management responsible for hospitality and styling/decoration.
